Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a fee to use it?
All features are free to use. No account or login is required. We may run ads in the future to keep the site running, but the tools themselves will remain free.
Where is the inventory data I enter stored?
It is saved inside your device's browser (localStorage). It is not sent to any server.
Because the data is lost if you change devices or clear your browser data, we recommend backing up regularly via Settings → Export in the inventory & tinting tool.
Can I trust the dilution ratios shown?
They are based on each maker's official catalogs and TDS (technical data sheets). However, they are reference values only, and may include outdated information due to product changes or spec revisions. For actual work, always check the product label and the latest data sheet.
Which makers and how many products are covered?
As of July 2026, we have published a total of 1,597 products from the following 11 makers, all verified against official data sheets:
Kansai Paint (342) / Nippon Paint (310) / SK Kaken (249) / Kikusui Chemical (110) / Rock Paint (77) / Dai Nippon Toryo (186) / Mizutani Paint (63) / Osaka Gas Chemicals (16) / Washin Chemical (26) / Miyaki (59) / Suzuka Fine (159)
We add makers in turn as their data is fully vetted.
Can I use it offline?
Once a page has loaded, the browser cache lets it work even on sites with weak signal. Full offline support (PWA) is planned for a future update.
How accurate is the approximate-color search?
We convert Nittoku numbers and Munsell values into the Lab color space and calculate similarity with the industry-standard color-difference formula ΔE2000. Because appearance changes with the paint's gloss, substrate, and ambient light, always make the final decision with a test coat. A “test coat required” tag is always shown.
Are the tinting ratios exact mixing recipes?
No. The ratios shown (e.g. “80–90%”, “a little”, “a very small amount”) are a directional guide, not exact recipes. Adjust while checking the color on-site. To avoid trouble from misuse, we intentionally do not show numeric recipes.
What if I have the same paint in both a 15L can and a 4L can?
You can register the same product in different can sizes together. In the add-paint dialog, enter the main “number of cans / unit”, then press the “+ Add another size” button to add a row for a different container size.
The inventory card shows them combined, e.g. “15L can × 3 + 4L can × 1”. You can add any number of rows and delete each with its “×”.
Can I manage inventory separately for multiple sites (jobs)?
Yes. When you add a paint, enter a “site name” (e.g. Tanaka Residence, XX Apartments), then filter by site with the “All sites” filter on the inventory tab. Existing site names are suggested as you type, so it is easy to keep them consistent for the same job.
When printing, you can output only the inventory for the filtered site.
I want to move my inventory data to another device
You can download it as a JSON file via Settings → Export in the inventory & tinting tool. Load it on the new device from “Import” on the same screen.
Always export before changing devices or browsers. If no backup has been taken for over 30 days, a reminder banner appears in the tool.
Some products show the dilution ratio as “not published by maker”
For some paints the maker does not officially publish a dilution ratio. On this site we leave it blank rather than guessing, and prompt you to check the actual product. You can see coverage details on the data-quality dashboard (Japanese).
For blank paints, please check the can label and the technical data sheet (TDS).
I want to report a product to add or an error in the information
Please contact us via the inquiry form (in preparation) on the About page. This site is run personally by an active painting professional, who responds as much as possible.
