About This Site

Toso Aibou (Painter's Partner) is a free tool site, developed and run by one person, to help painting professionals on the job carry out their daily work more smoothly.

It was built from real on-site needs: "Looking up a paint's dilution ratio in a catalog every single time is a pain," and "I want to quickly mix a close color from the paint I already have."

Tool Features

Paint Guide: Quickly search dilution ratios, number of coats, and thinners. Mix-ratio calculation for two-component (2-part) types is supported too.
Inventory & Tinting Tool: Manage your own paint inventory, search approximate colors by Nippon Paint Standard number or Munsell value, and get suggested combinations of tinting agents. Data is stored on your own device, so no cloud registration is needed.

About the Operator

This site is run individually by an active painter in their 24th year in the trade, working in the Tokai region of Japan.

■ Why I built this site

It started as a tool for myself, to look things up when I got stuck on-site: "What was the dilution ratio for that paint again?" or "Did I have that color in stock?"

Time spent flipping through catalogs, time spent phoning makers — that "time that isn't the real work" adds up to many minutes a day, and it felt like a waste.

I'm sharing it in the hope that the tool I wanted for myself will also help fellow tradespeople working the same sites.

There's no set finish line or goal; I plan to grow it little by little while using it on-site. If anything catches your eye, feel free to email me. Feedback from fellow tradespeople always shapes the next improvement.

Data Transparency

We publish how complete the paint data is (how well fields like dilution ratio and coverage are filled in) on the Data Quality Dashboard (Japanese). Where a maker has not published data, our policy is not to guess — we leave it blank and clearly note "Check the can label."

Advertising & Analytics

This site currently shows no advertising. In the future, we may introduce ads such as Google AdSense to help keep the site running.
